DAVENPORT, Iowa - (Business Wire) Kaplan University, a leading provider of online post-secondary education, today announced the launch of five new specializations for its master’s and bachelor’s degree programs, including specializations in Project Management, Human Resources and Online College Teaching. These new concentrations are designed to provide students with the specialized skills to become more competitive in a tight labor market.

The new online Master of Science in Management specialization in Human Resources is designed to allow students to analyze organizational development and employee behavior within the workplace. It focuses on teaching management from a strategic HR perspective. The MSM degree, which focuses on management and organization strategies in a global marketplace, also offers specializations in Change Leadership, Health Care Management, Project Management, and Supply Chain Management and Logistics.



The new Master of Science in Information Technology specialization in Project Management is designed to teach students to utilize current software to achieve project goals and objectives. The new specialization is meant to enhance the MSIT degree’s objective of teaching students to apply appropriate technologies in the analysis and design of information systems. Additional MSIT specializations include Business Intelligence, and Information Security and Assurance.



The new Bachelor of Science in Information Technology emphasis in Project Management is designed to teach students to create a project charter, develop project scope statements, develop a project schedule and budget, and analyze risk planning. It is meant to prepare students for career advancement in information technology and the visual arts. The BSIT degree also offers emphasis areas in Database Management, Network Administration, Application Development, Web Development, and Information Security and Forensics.



The new Bachelor of Science in Business Administration career focus area in Project Management aims to help students develop the knowledge and skills required to become effective and efficient managers. Emphasizing the planning, executing and controlling phases of a project life cycle, the career focus area is designed to teach the tools and techniques for managing project costs and scheduling. The bachelor’s degree offers nearly 20 additional career focus areas in fields such as Human Resources, Marketing and Management.



The new Master of Science in Higher Education specialization in Online College Teaching is designed to prepare students to teach in the rapidly growing world of online education. The specialization focuses on developing the special knowledge, skills and approaches needed for success in online learning environments. The specialization courses emphasize adult learning theory, distance learning technologies and teaching strategies, characteristics of online learners, special considerations for assessing student learning outcomes in the online environment, and current developments and trends in online education.
