Training and events company The Hub is running their project management week starting on Monday.  Focusing on providing information to project and programme managers, they have several great things lined up including:

A giveaway of How to Pass the APMP: a study guide, Your Journey to Professional Project Management by John Bolton and Paul Naybour, worth £47.

There will be articles from Peter Taylor, The Lazy Project Manager, and offers on his book of the same title.

They will be sharing the results of the Key Skills for Project Managers survey.  It’s not too late to take part in the survey.  Click here to take the survey.  It will take less than 3 minutes to complete and is just one page of questions asking about what you look for when you recruit project managers.  Even if you don’t have direct hiring power, you can still fill it in based on what you know of your company’s criteria for hiring new project managers.

In addition (and this is starting now), you can get a 10% discount off of two project management workshops running in London in June.  There is more information already on their website about these.

Also on the site already is some reading material.  They have articles on How To Fail as a Senior Responsible Owner, leading change projects and a great exercise you can do with your team to work out what sort of beast your project management organisation is, literally.  Are you a screaming monkey or a whale?

They also have a couple of presentations you can download.  I haven’t seen the Beyond PRINCE2 one yet but as it is by Donnie MacNicol I expect it is excellent.  The one on portfolio management has some interesting pictures (especially the poodles) but has no real content unfortunately, so nothing much to learn there.  The Hub say this is full of “lots of inspiring images and unexpected angles to help you reflect on what portfolio management means in your own organisation,” so take a look and make your own judgement.
