IMEX is the essential worldwide exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events. In 2009, 3,500 exhibitors from 157 countries representing national and regional tourist offices, major hotel groups, airlines, destination management companies, service providers and trade associations visited IMEX 2009 in Frankfurt. In addition, over 3,700 hosted buyers (who travel and stay free as guests of the organizers) from around 60 world markets also attended, contributing to a total of nearly 9,000 visitors for the show's busiest three days ever. IMEX America is also currently in planning and will host its first exhibition in Oct 2011 in Las Vegas. Like IMEX in Frankfurt, IMEX America will welcome thousands of hosted buyers, trade visitors and exhibitors from across the world, unleashing the energy of the US meetings market with new contacts, new ideas and a passion for business.

IMEX had the need for a project collaboration system that would allow them to improve the following project management disciplines and processes:

  • Project Communication– eliminate manual tracking such as emailing spreadsheets, logging tasks, issues, risks, bugs, new requests and announcements.   Project data did not reside in one location to allow for effective collaboration.  Valuable resource time was spent unraveling communication and clarifying initial requests.

  •
  • Resource Management- efficiently and effectively deploy resources to leverage appropriate expertise and skill sets and maximize return on human resource investment.

  •
  • Project Management Process/controls– provide project visibility into real-time status increasing project success of critical projects with tight timelines.

With the guidance and expertise of EPM Live trusted partner eNable Consultancy, IMEX was able to implement a project collaboration system that would increase project return and improve project performance.  IMEX is leveraging EPM Live's Workgroup solution for Microsoft Office Project linking the powerful desktop project management tools of Microsoft Project with the interactive collaboration technology of Windows SharePoint Services. EPM Live Workgroup tools bring Enterprise Project Management (EPM) collaboration to project team members, enabling individuals to more effectively work together on projects.

"Using EPM Live has enabled us to liaise with our supply partners in a way that allows us to use the skills and expertise of all the resources involved in a Project team rather than our leg work and time passing spreadsheets back and forth with development requests, logging bugs & issues and making change requests. In addition, we are now able to keep an accurate audit of all activity as well as future workload on any Project." - Christopher Perrins, IMEX Online Marketing Director

EPM Live allows team members to easily update the status of their individual contributions, collaborate, and stay informed of key project updates. The EPM Live Workgroup solution completes the cycle of effective project management as a three step dynamic process. Project managers use the process to plan effectively, communicate the plan with their teams, and track and analyze success. Using collaborative tools to implement this process allows project managers to adjust the plan to keep projects on track to completion.

"Getting EPM Live up and running was painless and quick. We were able to upload tasks and manage external teams within days on a very critical project which had very tight timescales.  As a result, we are now in the process of implementing EPM Live for our internal projects." - Carina Bauer, IMEX Group CEO
